Week of December 9 - 13, 2019

Friday HW
6A Notes:  This is homework for the grade 6 class I teach.
1.  20 minutes of reading.
2.  Food and Toy Drive items can be brought in to class.  11 students joined me today to match my five item challenge.  Let's keep it going!
3.  Class holiday party on Tuesday afternoon, December 17.  Allergy awareness concerns for our class include foods containing sesame products, sunflower seeds, tree nuts and peanuts.  Any items that come to class should have clear lists of ingredients so we can make informed choices.  Thank you for your cooperation.

b)  The vocabulary work and the response questions are due by Monday morning before school as a turned in document in the Google Classroom  Today's quiz has been marked.


Thursday HW
6A Notes:  This is homework for the grade 6 class I teach.
1.  20 minutes of reading.
2.  Food and Toy Drive items can be brought in to class.
3.  Complete response question for the first week of the "Holes" novel cycle.
4.  Math Geometry Quiz on Unit 3, Lessons 1, 3, and 4 on Friday, December 13.

We continued to read "Holes" today following the schedule provided to students with accompanying tasks on Monday.  The novel is being read in one week segments.

b)  We have a vocabulary and comprehension quiz tomorrow on the first seven chapters of The Giver.  The quiz has matching, true/false, multiple choice and fill-in-the blank questions (no short answer or essay questions).  The vocabulary work and the response questions are due by Monday morning before school.

Monday HW
6A Notes:  This is homework for the grade 6 class I teach.
1.  20 minutes of reading.
2.  Food and Toy Drive items can be brought in to class.
3.  Ensure that your Math set, which ideally includes a good compass, is at school each day during this math unit on Geometry.  A reasonable set of equipment includes a protractor that is not scratched up too much, a short, transparent ruler, and a good compass that is not too wobbly in the hinge and pencil attachment areas.  I can provide school issue materials, but they are typically in iffy condition.
4.  Complete summary and questions for the news journal presentation you listened to today.
5.  We began reading "Holes" today, and a schedule was provided to students with accompanying tasks.
6.  Extended French Forms were handed out today for next year.
7.  Holes Chapters 1-10 quiz on Friday.

b)  We worked on the new group assignment using a short story using laptops and shared digital spaces to compose rough work for the project.  The topic was shared in class on a sheet with the expectations listed in detail.
c)  We began to read "The Giver" in class today and Week One activities and schedule were shared on the Google Classroom today.
