Week of November 11 - 15, 2019

GRADE 6 AND 8:  Recall that my Extra Help times are posted clearly in class.  If you are absent due to illness, vacation, or school activity, then you are obliged to come by during one of these times to catch up.  It is not possible to do this during class time while we are taking up new material.  You have two study buddies assigned to you in grade 6 to whom you can turn if you want to get some support as well.

Wednesday HW
6A Notes:  This is homework for the grade 6 class I teach.
1.  20 minutes of reading.
2.  Please sign and return the Progress Report envelope to indicate you have seen the report card.  The progress report interview period is this week on Wednesday to Friday before and after school.  
3. Math Quiz on Patterning Unit 1, Lessons 1 and 2 tomorrow.
4.  A brown envelope containing Student Registration Verification was handed out today.  We use this information to contact parents for a variety of reasons including emergencies.  Please make any changes to the form in a highly visible colour and return it to school in the care of your child.  Thank you! 
5.  APE journal on following rules due on Monday.

Tuesday HW
6A Notes:  This is homework for the grade 6 class I teach.
1.  20 minutes of reading.

3.  Math Quiz on Patterning Unit 1, Lessons 1 and 2 on Thursday , November 14.
4.  MMS pages 6-7.  Use virtual dice (https://www.random.org/dice/), with parent supervision, if you do not have physical ones.
5.  Othello play critique due tomorrow morning.  We have had several periods to finish it in class.
6.  Class photos and individual packages that were in my mailbox were handed out today.

a)  20 minutes of reading.
b)  We discussed the plot graph and Summarizing 1,0, both of which were returned.  Summarizing 2.0 (reverse side) is due in Google Classroom on Wednesday.  Students may want to use the paper copy to plan before typing.
c)  Begin settling on a topic for a personal essay.  We looked at one in class on Uniforms in School and will work on another group topic about conformity before students write one on a topic of their choosing.
d) Remembrance Day writing activity, posted in the Google Classroom, was due on November 1.  The typed piece is to be "Turned In" rather than shared by email.  We looked at them in class to select a candidate to speak at the Remembrance Day ceremony.
