Weeks of March 23 - April 3, 2020

Grade 6 Students:

I hope everyone is doing well and managing to keep busy during this challenging time. I miss everyone!  It feels like you might grow 30 cm by the time I see you next!

On the Friday that we left for the March Break, students in attendance received these guidelines (see below) for the two weeks after the March Break and brought home texts and some reproducible sheets from the classroom.  I don't have any of these reproducible sheets with me unfortunately.  An additional item students might want to work on is the book report. As always, doing some reading is a good idea each day. Consider a novel with a survival theme? That was meant to be our next Literature activity.  Hope to see you all soon.
- Mr. Reynolds.

5.  A note from Mr. Wright:  Dear parents/guardians:
Your child is currently brainstorming about ideas for their stained glass art pieces  for the Remembrance Day assembly. Students have been researching using “The Canadian Letters and Images Project”, which is a great website where students can access letters that were written by soldiers and individuals who were involved in past wars. The link to this project can be found here:
The grade 6 students will be working on a silhouette art piece that incorporates an alcohol ink, while the grade 7 students will be painting a faux stain glass art piece.
I have already mentioned this to the students, however, I am sending this message as a reminder for them to buy an 8 x 10 picture frame for their project. It doesn’t have to be an expensive frame, at all. Frames can be purchased at a dollar store for around $1.50. The glass from the frames will be used to mount their artwork and will be framed and hung in the breezeway as part of the Remembrance Day assembly.
I am asking for all students to purchase these frames by this Tuesday in order for them to start working on their good copy for their assignment.
Thank you for you for your help.
Sincerely,
Arun Wright (Grade 6,7 and 8 Visual Arts teachers)
