Friday HW
(Posted for those who were absent today... HW is in bold below and involves some internet searching)
We looked at a letter written to LEGO by Charlotte Benjamin, a seven year old girl. She wrote it on January 25, 2014. It is widely available online.
1. What is the letter about?
2. Whose point of view is presented? Describe it.
3. Whose point of view is missing or would be interesting to hear?
What might this viewpoint say?
4. Connect: Do you have any experiences with gendered toys?
Briefly outline the experience.
5. Respond and evaluate: Do you agree or disgree with Charlotte?
Give a reason or two for your opinion.
6. Find Lego's response to her online. Make a few notes to summarize it on a piece of paper, or print it at home and highlight the parts you think are important.
(Respond to and evaluate what this company had to say. This part is done at school in the journal.)
2 journal pages.
Thursday HW
What a terrific assembly today! The girls in our class who formed the "Flash Mob" were outstanding. Thank you to Ms. Kenny and the other parents on the Centennial Committee for producing this event. I look forward to our class work on the murals of the 60's and 70's.
1. MMS Lesson 5 "Making Change", pages 82-83.
2. Test packs due tomorrow with parent signature and corrections where possible.
3. Interview letters were sent home today. I will be conducting interviews on Thursday night next week, starting at 4:00 PM and ending at 7:30 PM. I have met with all parents at least once already this year. If you want to speak with me again, please send in the confirmation sheet as soon as you can. I try to honour a "first-come, first-served" sequence where possible, while accommodating sibling times as best as I can.
Wednesday HW
1. No Homework tonight. Shovel snow?
Test pack is due on Friday, February 7, 2014 with a parent signature and corrections where possible.
Tuesday HW
1. Test pack due on Friday, February 7, 2014 with a parent signature and corrections where possible.
2. Storyboard for "Raven Freed The Moon" due tomorrow. It should be fully coloured and have a clear title at the top.
I have spoken to the class on more than one occasion about safe play this week in the playground. The ice and snow are seasonal hazards, but there are some judgement errors that are adding to those obstacles. No parent expects to have his/her child come home with an angry welt on his/her child's face. Please reinforce with your child the absolute need to keep ice and snow chunks on the ground. There should be no throwing of ice and snow at recess times, full stop. Thank you for your cooperation.
Monday HW
1. MMS pages 80-81.
2. Test pack due on Friday, February 7, 2014 with parent signature and corrections where applicable.
