Students were given tips on what sorts of things a discussion director and connector should do. There are detailed outlines in the packages for the other two roles as well (word wizard and summarizer). All students take a turn doing each role. In the final week all will be doing the illustrator role at the same time.
Today was our third homework club day after school. Two students attended. I am available for extra help during this time.

8. Spelling text work: page 21, # 1,2,4; page 22 # 6,7,8; page 23 -- copy the note. We had about one hour of class time today to complete this work. I assigned some notebook partners today for Spelling. I noticed when I reviewed the notebooks that there were a considerable number of students not finishing their homework and not recording it in a clear way. I have provided coaching verbally and in writing in all of these instances. It is my idea that another voice from a peer may provide more incentive for some students to focus on their daily work more effectively. I may expand this collaborative effort to other subjects in time, but for now it is a Spelling activity. Feel free to ask your child for a look at their Spelling and Journal notebooks if you are curious about how they are doing.

Students could also make connections (TTT, TTS, TTW) as well. We had three excellent presentations today. Students should have a strong idea of what is required after these three and my two detailed introductions with samples.
