Week of March 30 - April 3, 2015

Reminder:  This coming Friday and Monday are holidays and there will be no school.  Happy Easter!

Monday:
1.  No homework other than continued reading and preparation for the Book Report due on April 9.
2.  So far we have had 3 Book Club meetings in small groups.  The remainder will be presenting orally over the next few days.
3.  Thursday April 2 is Ms. Harris's final day in our class.  I have greatly enjoyed hosting her in room 365.

Week of March 23 - 27, 2015

Thursday HW
1.  Book Report due April 9.
2.  Test pack due on Friday March 27 with signature and corrections.
3.  MMS 6.1
4.  Book Club presentations start tomorrow.

Tuesday HW
1.  Book Report Due on April 9.
2.  Africville news article due tomorrow.
3.  Math Geometry unit test tomorrow.  Test pack with quiz results for the unit was handed back on Tuesday.
4.  Book Club oral presentations on Friday.

Monday HW
1.  Book Report due on April 9.
2.  Rehearse your Book Club reading presentation and generate reason for the favourite part you selected so you can participate orally when your Book Club meets.
3.  Africville news article is due Wednesday morning.
4.  Math Geometry Unit test is on Wednesday, March 25.

Week of March 9 - 13, 2015

Thursday HW
1.  Math Quiz tomorrow.
2.  Hand in MMS Unit 7 booklet and duotang tomorrow.
3.  If you have not completed any notes in your Africville organizer, you should do so tonight.  We've had several class periods to do so using computers.

Wednesday HW
1.  Spelling Dictation tomorrow
2.  MMS 7.6
3.  Math Unit 7 quiz on Friday.

Tuesday HW
1.  MMS 7.3, started in class last week, should be done.
2.  Spelling Dictation #6 on Thursday this week.
3.  TV Ads are due on Wednesday.
4.   Math Unit 7 quiz on the remainder of the unit on Friday, March 13.
5.  Library tomorrow.
6.  Spelling text work from today.(p. 32 # 3,4,5, p. 33 # 7 and Focus on Language)

Monday HW
1.  MMS 7.3, started in class last week, should be done.  Students need to use a ruler for this geometry unit and should be referring to the "Quick review" at the beginning of the lesson to locate ways to prove that shapes are congruent.
2.  Spelling Dictation #6 on Thursday this week.
3.  TV Ads are due on Wednesday.
4.   Math Unit 7 quiz on the remainder of the unit on Friday, March 13.

A note from the Peace by Peace conflict resolution program leaders was sent home today.  We are coming to the end of our sessions.  It is our hope that students will independently use the techniques practiced over the past 11 Monday morning sessions to reduce the frequency and severity of recess and class disagreements.

Week of March 2 - 6, 2015

Friday HW
1.  Math Unit 7 quiz on lessons 1 and 2.
The Unit four test is marked.  The class average was 75%.  The major areas for growth were in the problem solving sections.

Thursday HW
1.  Spelling Cycle 6:  3 lists and 15 sentences.  No derivatives this time.  We had 25 minutes in class to work on this today.
2.  Math journal based on the "Reflect" prompt on page 234 in the textbook.  I will collect it tomorrow.
3.  Art activity started yesterday and continued today is due in finished form tomorrow.
4.  Math quiz on Monday, March 9 -- Unit 7, lessons 1 and 2.

Wednesday HW
1.  Math Transformations Geometry quiz on Monday, March 9.
2.  MMS HW book lesson 7.2

Tuesday HW
1.  Scholastic orders are due on Wednesday.
2.  The unit 4 math test is tomorrow.
3.  I checked the MMS unit 4 HW booklets last night and handed them back today, as I had planned, for use as a study aid.  We had a further 25 minutes today to work on some of the gaps I identified in the booklet.  Please return it tomorrow before the test.
4.  Please return the most recent test package tomorrow with a parent signature.  It has the decimals quiz and some dictations in it.

Monday HW
1.  Scholastic orders due Wednesday.  Cheques only.
2.  Math Unit 4 test on Wednesday.

4.  Spelling text page 25, #3,4.
